“Small group Jack the Ripper tour is worth every penny!”
Our family was in London for a week in June 2023 and we knew the regular Jack the Ripper tours are overcrowded, so we reserved our spot on this walking tour know that the group would be small and the story more intimate. Richard did not disappoint and our family would all HIGHLY RECOMMEND this dynamic experience. It was 2 to 2-1/2 hours and thrilling & suspenseful. I loved that we started in Whitechapel instead of Tower Hill like everyone else does. Richard's tour is a winner!

“So interesting and unexpected”
Richard knows his stuff! We all enjoyed that the tour was so much more than lurid and salacious details. It was history and a look into life in London in the late 1800’s. To reveal much more would ruin the surprise. Suffice it to say that my group of friends and I still discuss what we learned that rainy night! We truly appreciated the headphones as well.

“Highly recommended”
Richard is a very knowledgeable, articulate and entertaining guide. We enjoyed the tour immensely, with Richard keeping our interest all the time. The small group was much better than being in a large group and the use of a comfortable earphone meant we could always hear the commentary. Richard also carried a large iPad to show us photos of the characters and places as they were in 1888 which were very informative. If you wish to find out more about the conditions in 19th century Whitechapel and about Jack the Ripper and his poor victims, this tour is highly recommended.

A Great Tour.
Richard was lovely, made sure everyone was happy throughout the night. Small group, so felt personal. Headsets were supplied, so we never missed a detail. Richard was very knowledgeable. Was open to questions and any alternative ideas anyone had - a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Quick note: If you go in winter, wrap up warmly. Even tho you do quite a bit of walking, it can get chilly.

Absolutely fantastic tour.
Richard has an incredible depth of knowledge and his friendly manner keeps you engrossed throughout. Being able to visit key locations and hear about all the suspects makes it a fascinating couple of hours. The small group size is an obvious bonus but is made even better by the individual headsets worn by everyone so you don't miss a word he says. This was worth its weight in gold when Richard had to compete with the noise of monsoon strength rainfall during our tour.

A Great Experience
We thoroughly enjoyed the walk around Whitechapel and Spitalfields with Richard. His depth of knowledge, story telling skills and passion for the subject matter were most apparent and the intimacy of the small group really enhanced the experience for us. We were especially impressed with Richard's efforts to put this extremely well known story into a context that considers the social conditions, the plight of women and the narrow perspective of the investigators at the time of the murders, thereby challenging long established and widely held assumptions. Very informative and thought provoking. We highly recommend this tour.

Richard was absolutely incredible! He packs a powerhouse PUNCH to the history of England, knows more about Jack the Ripper than even me (haha) and suffused his knowledge with wit and warmth -- and respect for the victims. Would 1000% recommend a tour with him!
This tour walks FAST, so be sure you are physically able to keep up, and wear solid, comfortable walking shoes.

Richard is a fantastic tour guide, passionate about the Jack the Ripper case.
He made us all feel part of the conversation around possible suspects but, what I really enjoyed was his up-to-date perspective and his compassion for the victims (who are sadly often forgotten!).
The 2,5 hours flew by and it was so fascinating to immerse yourself and imagine what Whitechapel and Spitalfields were like back in 1888. If you want an engaging, factual, compassionate, brain-rattling and non-biased walk to learn more about the Ripper, then this is definitely the one!

Thank you Richard so much for an enthralling 2.5 hour tour. Your insight and knowledge of Jack the Ripper kept us hanging on your every word. Very entertaining, funny and informative. Your tour left me questioning everything I had read about JTR and has now made me look at this crime spree in a whole new light. I didn't think I was going to get to the end of the 2.5 hour session as hubby (the tagalong!) had back surgery and couldn't stand still for too long but Richard kept him absolutely entertained and interested enough to get to the end of the session. Fantastic tour

Tour worth every pound
My husband and I absolutely loved this tour. Richard should write his own book on the subject of Jack the Ripper; I would absolutely purchase and read that book. He was so knowledgeable and engaging. As an American, it was wild to see the locations where the victims were found in 1888.

Richard is extremely knowledgable about the history of the area, the victims, and the struggles of Victorian England. His passion for the subject was palpable and really helped set the stage and bring these women and their experiences to life. I appreciated the small interjections of humor, details, and emphasis on the victims instead of on "Jack the Ripper". He did share some interesting theories from an evidence based perspective that allowed for the audience to speculate and draw their own conclusions from an informed place. Additionally, the small group format allowed for personalization and kept the experience feeling more intimate. It was easy to hear and interact with Richard and other people on the tour. Would recommend to anyone interested in the dark, but fascinating history of the neighborhood and this famous unsolved case.

Richard is very passionate about the case of Jack the Ripper and made the 2,5 hours fly by! I particularly enjoyed the up-to-date perspective and how considerate he is towards the victims, making a point of explaining their lives and how the Victorian era was ruthless towards women and children.
It was also thought-provoking, bringing perspective and interpreting the facts in a new light.

Not to be missed!
Richard’s tour of Jack The Ripper’s Whitechapel is not to be missed! He is so friendly and outgoing and really gets you involved in the tour. His bright personality and vast knowledge on the subject leave you wanting to know more and wishing the tour could go on for longer. I don’t think it would make a difference if Richard had a group of 2 or 20 to take on the tour ; either way he is going to give it his all and you will have an incredible experience. The two others I was on the tour with stopped in at a pub after we were finished, where the conversation revolved around how much fun we had, how much we learned, and our theories on who the killer could have been. The murders may have taken place in 1888, but this tour and Richard’s expertise will make the stories and memories come alive again. A great experience and one I am glad I got to have. Thank you Richard!

The High Point of our London Visit
This was one of the most informative and interesting guided tours that I have ever experienced. Richard’s knowledge of Whitechapel’s history, the culture of the time period and of the “Ripper” murders and their effect on British society is encyclopedic. His delivery of information was relaxed and entertaining and he encouraged questions from the group. Be prepared to walk at a brisk pace while following the path o Jack the Ripper and make sure to wear comfortable shoes. I cannot recommend this program highly enough.

Was amazing!

A Fantastic Experience
I cannot say enough about how great this tour experience was. Our guide had an encyclopedic knowledge of the history and culture of Whitechapel, the Jack the Ripper events and their effects on British society at the time. The tour is geared toward brisk walking, so wear some comfortable shoes . I cannot recommend this tour more highly. It was a great experience.

The Jack the Ripper Tour with Richard Walker was definitely a highlight of our trip to London! Richard was awesome! It was pouring rain for our tour, but I think that added to the story and Richard didn’t miss a beat. He went into so much detail about London in 1888 and we found it really interesting. We didn’t know a lot about Jack the Ripper or London of that time, and Richard really made it come to life. Highly recommend!
